Grain Free Copy Cat Tagalongs

Tagalongs were a childhood favorite of mine, so why not make a grain free, gluten free, paleo friendly, and vegan version! When it was time for Girl Scout cookies, these were the first boxes we would pick up. It has chocolate and peanut butter, a combination you cannot go wrong with.

When I bit into one the other day, I thought to myself, how can I make a homemade Tagalong, and make it more nutritious? I started to pull out ingredients like Almond Flour, Organic Creamy Peanut Butter, Coconut Sugar, Coconut Oil, and Unsweetened Chocolate, and went to work! These Tagalongs are grain free, gluten free, paleo friendly, vegan, and absolutely delicious!

Grain Free Copy Cat Tagalongs Ingredients

  • Almond Flour
  • Coconut Oil
  • Coconut Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Creamy Peanut Butter
  • Unsweetened Chocolate
  • Agave

How to make grain free copy cat Tagalongs

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Put parchment paper or a baking sheet on your cookie pan.
  3. For the cookies, blend together the almond flour, coconut sugar, coconut oil, and vanilla extract until a cookie dough batter forms.
  4. Roll the cookies into small, bite sized cookies, and flatten them. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until the cookie is brown and crispy.
  5. Once the cookies cool, spoon peanut butter onto each cookie and cover the entire cookie. Freeze for 20 minutes.
  6. Melt the chocolate, coconut oil, and agave together. Once the cookies have sat in the freezer for at least 20 minutes, you can start to dip them in the chocolate. Set them back on the parchment paper and place back in the fridge.
  7. Enjoy!

Tips on how to make these cookies the best they can be

  • Can you use other sugars to sweeten the cookies and chocolate?
    • Absolutely! You can use any kind of sugar to sweeten the cookies. For sweetening the chocolate, I reccommend sticking with a sweetener similar to agave, for example, you can use honey or maple syrup. These sweeteners tend to melt better in the hot chocolate.
  • Can you use a different flour for the cookie?
    • Yes you substitute almond flour for another flour if you would like. Doing this could alter the way the batter comes out, so you may have to adjust the amount of coconut oil depending on the type of flour. For example, coconut flour absorbs more water and will need more liquid than almond flour does.
  • Can you use something other than peanut butter?
    • Yes you can! You can use any nut butter if you would like to make it exactly how you want. You can substitute peanut butter for almond butter, cashew butter, and even sunflower butter.
